Firefighter Recognition Ceremony 2021 And More!

Postby Jim O'Bryan » Sun Oct 03, 2021 3:04 pm

Each year Lakewood Fire Department sets aside a day in October to recognize Deceased Firemen, swear in new firefighters, honor our Junior Fire Chief, hand out awards, and then spend some time talking with our first responders, over coffee and treats.

This year was very special for many reasons, the first is last year's was canceled due to COVID-19. The second is we were swearing in the first female firefighter in Lakewood history, Kimberly Petty. The third was the recognition if the all of the people that save the man's life on Thoreau back in August 11 What made it even more special was the man was here to thank the men and women that saved his life. From the the dispatcher, to the Life Flighters, to the responders, and to the group that brought in the big guns Kuffner Towing.

Here are some of the photos, all will be posted later...

Then we all enjoyed refreshments, the outdoors, a great mix of retired fire fighters, families in the neighborhood, politicians and first responders.

Thank you to all of our first responders, you make this city great!
