City Council, Bars In The Streets So Yesterday - Get Hip

Postby Jim O'Bryan » Sun Oct 10, 2021 10:51 am

This past weekend I stopped in Norwalk, Ohio for a couple hours and walked around the community.

Our guide was an actual descendant of Thomas Edison, and is on the board of the Edison House and Museum in Milan.
A fun afternoon.

One of the things that I was taken back over was this sign...

Within a block and a half of Mainstreet you were allowed to carry open containers of alcohol and enjoy them.

If we did this here, it would make 85% of the city "open container."

Then residents could finally compete financially with the bars and restaurants taking our parking spots.

Also, another staggering moment was their city's historical and planning department must not have gotten the message.

The city was filled with beautiful old homes and buildings.

Don't they realize they are suppose to grease the skids for senseless gentrification for a few dollars in the pockets of even fewer?

Not sure where your irony/sarcasm begins or stops, but I definitely am surprised both Lakewood and Cleveland haven't tried to set up a DORA. We attended a Mud Hens game in Toledo this summer and the entire block around the stadium is a DORA.

The whole thing is a nasty joke. Same is true x 10 in Columbus.

In Norwalk it really seems to be working. You can get an office in DowntowN (wish I was joking) Norwalk for $125.00 a month, and there are tons to choose from.
