LO_17_20 On The Streets And Online - ELECTION SPECIAL

Well it is that time of year again, not just Halloween, but voting for people to run our city, courts and schools. To address that we asked readers for questions to ask candidates for City Council, Judge and School Board. Most of them came down to 3 things, the Holespital site, cost of living in Lakewood, and safety concerns. So we boiled them down and into questions that reflected the largest group of readers.

We did not ask the candidates questions on the Hospital for two reasons, the first is that the City has entered into an agreement that is covered in the paper. Second, it would seem that many of the candidates are not up on the history of the hospital deal and “Candidates Questions” is not a place to spread more disinformation. Much like with Trump and the 2020 election, the scoundrels have muddied the water so badly that very few know just how bad our elected officials behaved in that ongoing nightmare.

As for the Halloween side we are having our Decorating Contest again. This year will be even more laid back than in the past. While we are looking for the best decoration in “Spookywood,” we are also looking at ways to thank more homeowners and decorators while calling attention to a community that is getting very well known for our Halloween and Christmas Decorations. And yes we will have the Christmas Lighting Contest also. While LakewoodAlive lights up downtown, we hope to give the community a reason to light up the city with them. We have collected over 200 homes already. This year we will narrow them down to 20 or so and have everyone vote for the best.

“Someone struggled for your right to vote. Use it.” - Susan B. Anthony

If you have not voted, please do. Voting is not a spectator sport, and it is one of the very few times you have actual input in how your city and schools are run.

You can pick up the printed copy of the Lakewood Observer at over 100 location around town.

Peace/Love

See everyone after the election.
