Amy
Thank you for posting.
The first happened on Nicholson near Emerson 7:30pm
Second one was at 8pm on Merl near Nickolson
Third one at 8:45pm City Center parking lot, aka Marc's Detroit and Warren.
Police are putting together composites on the perps.
Be safe, be extra safe.

when this many car jackings happen at once it is usually a small group of cleveland teens or young adults. they go on a spree until they get caught. It was the same thing when they were crashing cars into convenience stores to steal the ATM machines.

This is definitely the work of a couple people. The one driver said, "No I am not giving you my keys" and the guy took off and now really needed a car.
But the "influencers" will use this to make strained points. Thos that moved out will crowd the FB pools with, "Lakewood gone bad." Locals with political agendas will cry out.
Amy had the right approach. Post, share, keep an eye out and be safe.

File Under FWIW
It would seem the same guy(s) hit Rocky River last night.
Around 1 in the morning one of them was spotted and Rocky River police gave chase. The vehicle headed east on I-90 but then got off in Lakewood and dumped the car near Athens and Chesterland.
Lakewood Police and State Troopers joined the search, and the K-9 unit was called in.
After nearly an hour Rocky River Police called the search off and towed the car back to Ricky River.

Re: Armed Robberies on Bunts
So Where Is The Tipping Point?
Just how many incidents does it take before residents decide to vote with their feet?
I'm sure that for many, including myself, three sequential car-jackings are well beyond almost anyone's tipping point.
What are the countervailing positives here when personal safety is jeopardized? -- "Walkable streets"?
We just had an "issue-less" political campaign where maintaining the collective fantasy version of Lakewood was the primary agenda.

And, the only school board candidate with serious public safety credentials and experience was defeated.

I must be missing the part where the school board helps with solving crimes and are responsible for keeping the public safe. Or is there something else at play here? Very odd comment, IMHO, about the serious armed robberies and carjacking. School board has nothing to do with that.
In addition, are you implying that the board members who won don't care about safety?

Re: Armed Robberies on Bunts
My comments are directed to the idea that serious problems in Lakewood don't seem to have much, if any, traction with our local elected officials.
I rarely write about anything related to the school system, because the issues that I DO write about are so obvious.
I write here frequently and I'm sure that you understand my biases, preferences, and opinions across an array of issues.
Given that our police officers are called upon to serve and protect charter school students and others; Ed Favre's career experience seems relevant in terms of public safety issues across several dimensions.
One city council member is worried about bees and bamboos. Other city council members don't have committee meetings and when they do they can't seem to even write-up the fucking minutes.
All the prior administration did was feather its bed while wrecking the city.
Yes, these car-jackings disturb me.
I'm tired of all the PR bullshit about how great Lakewood is.
It has suffered greatly over the past decade and its future is at risk.
Incidents of crime reported here over the past several months stand in testament to that risk.
