Mushroom Harvest: one must wait
Posted: Sat Jun 02, 2007 4:51 pm
Hello Ploverites,
Mike and I were glad to see that mushrooms are fruiting at the garden. However, we are not yet sure that these are the species planted by Mike.
As these shrooms develop, Mike will monitor them. Only after a maturation will he be able to tell EXACTLY what species is growing in the bed.
***WARNING, DO NOT EAT ANY MUSHROOMS, FROM ANY BED!!****
When growing mushrooms, there is always the possibility that "invader species" take over the nutrient rich bed laid for the edible species planted.
Mike will keep everyone posted.
We will do a group harvest, so that everybody can learn, first hand, which species are safe to eat.
Best,
Dan
