2007 Pumpkin Palooza

Get ready for a day full of excitement, Pumpkin Palooza is just around the corner! Come celebrate Lakewood’s 8th annual Pumpkin Palooza on Sunday, October 29th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Lakewood High School. Pumpkin Palooza has been a success since 1999, when it all began by the City of Lakewood’s youth volunteer program, H2O “Help to Others”. The event kicks off at 1:00 p.m. in the East Gym with The McKinley Elementary Choir providing a special Halloween performance. Admission is free. Donations of canned goods will be gratefully accepted at the door.

With the success in the past years, we anticipate over 4,000 people to be in attendance. This year’s events include: indoor carnival games, kids’ crafts, a costume parade, a “haunted hallway” and storytelling in a delightfully spooky setting. The fun does not end there! Check out the Palooza’s Great Pumpkin Patch for free, filled with over 100 spectacular, decorated pumpkins. For 25¢, you can buy a raffle ticket for your favorite pumpkin. Winners will be announced at 2:30 p.m.

Enjoy delicious baked goods at the bake sale or a tasty piece of pizza generously contributed by Roman Fountain or Domino’s. Coffee and other beverages will also be available. Remember, 100 percent of the proceeds from Pumpkin Palooza will be donated to Lakewood Christian Service Center and Lakewood Charitable Assistance Corp., two local charities that help residents and families in need.
Pumpkin decorators wanted! Express your creativity by decorating a real pumpkin from a patch or foam pumpkin from a craft store. Your pumpkin will be entered into the raffle with the proceeds going to the charities. One creative restriction applies…no carved pumpkins please – excited buyers want to be able to display their pumpkins as long as possible.

Decorating a pumpkin is a great way to promote a business, church or an organization. Bring all decorated pumpkins to the East Cafeteria of Lakewood High School. Please use the entrance under the North Gym overhang at the front of the building. Pumpkin drop off dates and times are as follows: Friday, Oct. 27th 3-5pm and Sunday, Oct. 29th 10am-12:30pm. Contact H2O at 529-4173 or 529-6045 if you have any questions. See you there!
