Colin Teets Update 11/12/08

Colin hooked to a SEMG (rear view)
During PT this morning Colin participated in the Motor Control Program for the third time.  During this program a patient is hooked up to a special computer program, an electronic device and a form of surface electromyography (SEMG) which provides feedback to the patient so they know when they are using muscles properly.  As part of the reward system, a movie will play if the patient engages the correct muscles.  Colin has been using this program to retrain his body and brain to stand correctly.  It has been explained to me that this program will speed and enhance his regular therapy program.  As I watched him work hard to balance and keep the movie playing, I would have to agree.Colin made another trip to Metro Hospital today.  This time he had a swallow test and a CT scan.  He passed the swallow test – no problem.  He no longer has to have his drinks thickened.  He asked for ice water, then grape juice and root beer when we got back to the Children’s Hospital.  The CT scan results will go to the doctor so I don’t know those results.Grandma Judy came to keep Colin company while I went to class at CSU tonight.  Paul brought Brendan, Megan, and Kevin out for a visit, too.  They brought Colin a new game, Uno Spin, and a new movie, I Am Legend.  Colin played the game all evening.  The movie will have to wait for another night.Free Time for Nov. 10 – Nov. 14, 2008 Monday: 12:00-2:30 & 3:30-8:30 Tuesday: 12:00-2:00 & 4:00-8:30 Wednesday: 4:00-8:30 Thursday: 12:00-3:00 & 6:30-8:30 Friday: 12:00-1:00 & 3:00-8:30
