Business Bits & Bytes

Business Bits & BytesA bit is a small increment of computer data used in sets of 8 to create a byte. Here’s some bits of info in print and online. Please take a 'byte' and taste our community. Have you visited these 8 local businesses, yet?

Walking on Detroit, near Nicholson, I stopped by The Lakewood Garden Center. Husband and wife team, Paul Bilyk and Jenna Sickburt plan to open their doors in May- just in time for Mother’s Day! Have you been to Great Gardens Ltd a bit further west? You can’t miss their brightly colored, comfortable & ‘green’ (made from recycled materials!) “ecorondack” chairs out front. Ahhh, being outside reminds me of patio dining (watch for the LO special Patio guide on June 1st) and going to Indians games and eating hot dogs...but even if you didn’t make it to the opener last week, The Dog House has the best selection of delicious and unique hot dogs right in Downtown Lakewood. It’s their second location; the original is on Coventry in Cleveland Hts. Across the street, Got your Back, owner Geri Kody, a licensed massage therapist, shares the healing of touch therapy to release stress and provide far reaching health benefits. Stop by to enjoy a truly relaxing lunch break with a 15 minute chair massage or foot reflexology treatment in suite #306 above Rozi’s Wine House. Speaking of Rozi’s, if you haven’t tried one of their wine tastings (every Saturday from 12-5), stop by to pick up your favorite wine or find a new one. May 1 is their next big event, featuring Jim Perko, Executive Chef Wellness Institute, who will be sharing Lifestyle 180 from the Cleveland Clinic. Take a peek at his recipes on our Wellness Watch pages in the first issue each month, sponsored by Live Well Lakewood. Sweet Designs is another stop not to miss! Her award winning, amazing chocolate comes in tremendous variety. The dark chocolate is even heart healthy ( and oh, sooo delicious!) Near West Clifton, Haute Stuff, a new resale shop just opened their doors. Why not stop by and welcome them to the neighborhood? These are just a few of the many, many businesses in Lakewood that make it a great place to think globally and shop locally!
