Enjoying Cultural Cleveland: Transportation To Hard-To-Reach Musical Venues

Great music has always been an essential part of the Cleveland experience. The level of talent, the diversity of musical styles and the amazing venues combine to make fine music one of the Greater Cleveland area's best selling points. But let's face it, downtown Cleveland and University Circle can be a pain in the neck for drivers. But wait, there is a solution.

The Lakewood Division of Aging is pleased to offer a unique service to seniors 60+, providing transportation to concerts at Severance Hall and Trinity Cathedral. Enjoy fine music with like-minded individuals without the added stress of getting to the hall on time.

In March, April and May, the Lakewood Division of Aging will be providing transportation to the Cleveland Orchestra Friday Matinee concerts. We will be leaving Lakewood at 9 a.m. in order to arrive at Severance Hall by 9:45 a.m. for continental breakfast and an informative talk about the upcoming concert. The music starts at 11 a.m. and lasts for an hour. The Friday, March 31st concert will feature a variety of Baroque favorites, concluding with Handel's "Music For The Royal Fireworks." The fee for all concerts is $25, to be paid no later than three weeks prior to the event. Bear in mind, however, that the bus has limited capacity so "First-come-first-served."

The Division of Aging will also be providing transportation to the Trinity Cathedral "Brownbag Concerts." We will be going to Trinity once a month for a free concert. Trinity is known for bringing in musicians from a variety of musical styles for the attendee's education and enjoyment. The March 29th concert is "The Three Divas" Jazz concert. Plan on either bringing a box lunch from Lakewood, purchasing a lunch at Trinity for $7 or just bringing something from home.

Reservation forms for both events are available at the Lawther Center, 16024 Madison Ave. For more information, please call the Activities Office at 216-529-5005. See you at the concert!
